What is a virtual walkathon?

A virtual walkathon lets you participate from anywhere by walking, running, biking, or any activity you choose to help raise funds for a cause. Join a team, create your own, or simply donate to support life-changing research—all at your own pace and location.

What is the walkathon raising money for?

The NUS1 Foundation is hoping to fund a drug repurposing study with Greenwood Genetic Center in collaboration with the University of Georgia. This critical study will screen over 2,000 drugs and supplements to find those that can boost NUS1 protein expression—a key step toward developing the first-ever treatment for NUS1 mutations. 100% of funds raised will go to funding this necessary research.

How do I participate?

It is easy to participate! Go to the walkathon link below and donate as a pledge to walk, run, or bike with an existing team. Your support helps them reach their fundraising goal. You can also show your support by sponsoring someone already participating, this is great option for businesses! If walking, running, or biking isn’t for you, you can still make a difference by donating directly to the cause.

I love someone with NUS1, can I create my own team in their honor for the walkthon?

Absolutely! We would love for you to join us by creating your own team in honor of your loved one. You can simply go to the link below and sign up by clicking the option "I want to help fundraise." There you can set up your own team in honor of your loved one and share it with your friends and family. You can also reach out to us at fundraising.nus1foundation@gmail.com and we can send you a PR packet to help run your campaign.
